Josip Zanki

Josip Zanki is an artist and Associate Professor at the Education Department, University of Zadar, Croatia. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 1994. Since 2007, he is President of the Croatian Artists Association. His research interests include the influence of mythology on the contemporary visual art in Western Balkans. Together with ethnologist Mirijana Trošelj he published a book Mirila (2012). Selected group exhibition includes: Superdownload Mittelfest, Cividale, 2002; Digging the Channel-Mobius Centre for Experimental Art, Boston, 2002; Cairo biennale, 2008; Osmosis, Halle 14 Spinneri, Leipzig, 2012. Selected individual exhibitions includes: Museum of Eastern and Western Art, Odessa, 1998; Galeria Neon, Bologna, 2001; Studio Tomasseo, Trieste, 2001; Galerija Rigo, Novigrad, 2010. He received numerous prizes for his work and is currently working on his PhD in Cultural Anthropology at the University of Zagreb on Tibetan thangka painting in Dharamsala and its connections with Pythagorean geometry. Lives and works in Zagreb and Zadar, Croatia.
